Baking Directions for Kweenie Kits
Your Kweenie Kit includes Laminated Dough Squares - Maple Sugar - Fine Granulated Sugar
Note: Keep Dough Squares Frozen !!
Put frozen dough squares in the refrigerator the night before baking.
What You Need
12 compartment muffin/cupcake tin
Pastry brush
2 Tablespoons of Melted Butter
Preheated 375 Degree Oven
Instructions
Preheat Oven to 375 Degrees. Set up a rack in the middle of the oven.
Step 1: Separate Dough Squares and lay on clean work surface such as counter, sheet pan or cutting board.
Step 2: Prepare Muffin Tins. There are 12 cups and we only need 6 so we will alternate to leave extra baking space for our Kweenies (see picture below of spacing in pan). With your pastry brush apply melted butter in 6 tins on the bottom and side walls. Distribute White sugar evenly in all 6. Working over your clean surface, do a little shake and try to cover the walls of the tins tins with sugar. Turn upside down and shake out any excess white sugar on the sheet pan or counter. Mix this sugar with the enclosed Maple Sugar.
Step 3: Using about half of the sugar to cover all 6 dough squares. Take the corners of the squares and meet in the middle. This will now form 4 new corners. Bringing these corners to the center and fold into prepared buttered and sugared tins.
Step 4: Top all 6 with the remaining sugar.
Step 5: Bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Place a foiled sheet pan below to catch any dripping sugar. After 15 minutes, rotate the pan in the oven and continue baking for 10-15 minutes more. Total baking time should be between 25-35 minutes depending on the oven. We are definitely looking for a DEEP GOLDEN COLOR. This is critical as we also want the bottoms to be well baked too.
Step 6: With your oven mitts, CAREFULLY remove the pan from the oven. Melted sugar can cause serious burns. Wait 5 minutes and then CAREFULLY use tongs to remove. Cool UPSIDE DOWN on a cooling rack. Cool for at least 15 additional minutes before serving.
